Target 7: By 2022, all areas under agriculture, aquaculture and forestry are managed sustainably, ensuring conservation of Swaziland’s biodiversity.
Current status: Gains from the expansion of agriculture in increased productivity have come at high and growing costs in terms of trade-offs with other ecosystem services through the direct impact of land cover change, release of nutrients into rivers and water withdrawals for irrigation.
On-going initiatives: The country is in the process of introducing conservation agriculture but the extent to which CA has been adopted and its impact is unknown.
Strategic Initiative 1: Promotion of Sustainable agriculture, fisheries, aquaculture and forestry.
