Biosafety

Biosafety refers to the safe application of modern of modern biotechnology across all areas of its application. Of particular concern are Living Modified Organisms derived from modern biotechnology due to fears about potential impacts on biodiversity as well as human and animal health. The focus of biosafety is on:

• Prevention of damage or loss of biological diversity:
• Maintenance of ecological integrity
• Prevention of negative effects on human and animal health.
Some aspects of social and cultural damage can also be included.
