Institutional Arrangements for Biosafety in Swaziland
Swaziland has completed setting up the required institutional arrangements for implementation of the biosafety regulatory framework. The following are in place:
Competent National Authority
The Biosafety Act designated the Swaziland Environment Authority (SEA) as the Competent National Authority (CNA). Read more >
Biosafety Focal Point:
The SEA was also designated the Biosafety Focal Point with the responsibility of liaising with the Secretariat of the Convention of Biological Diversity (SCBD). Read more >
The National Biosafety Advisory Committee
The National Biosafety Advisory Committee (NBAC) is a technical committee composed of a range of specialists. Members of the NBAC have been appointed through a Government Gazette (Legal Notice No. 130 of 2013: Appointment of the National Biosafety Advisory Committee). Read more>
The National Biosafety Registry
The Biosafety Act also established the National Biosafety Registry within SEA to be manned by the Registrar and other staff. Read more >
